Coined “The CPA from around the way,” Courtney Arrington is the proud principal of Arrington Solutions, where she provides virtual tax preparation and bookkeeping services to partnerships, corporations, and individuals. Her focus areas include tax preparation and planning, and bookkeeping for small businesses, social media influencers, and sole proprietors.

 

In 2016, Courtney earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating cum laude. During her course studies, she was a member of the National Association of Black Accountants and Beta Alpha Psi. Courtney became licensed as a Certified Public Accountant with the state of Virginia in 2019 and is also a Quickbooks Online Certified ProAdvisor.

Courtney began her accounting career as a tax associate for a regional public accounting firm. During her time with this firm, she worked with various clients, including partnerships, corporations, non-profits, trusts, and high-net-worth individuals. Courtney provided tax preparation and tax planning services and was involved in engagements for compilation and review services.

 

Most recently, Courtney worked as a senior accountant in the insurance industry, where she performed the accounting for a $75B investment portfolio. In this role, she managed the execution of controls and the implementation of new accounting standards. She also helped prepare financial statements under both generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), statutory, and SEC reporting standards.

In addition to her work, Courtney is a devoted member of the accounting community, demonstrated through her volunteerism with several organizations. She serves as the lead trustee for a local non-profit organization where she is responsible for management and oversight of the budget and aids in the organization’s financial decision making. Courtney currently serves on both the Board of Directors and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Council for The Virginia Society of CPA's. 

A resident of Virginia, Courtney is a dynamic force in the accounting space who is committed to empowering small business entrepreneurs and social media influencers with the knowledge necessary to achieve their business goals. As a micro-influencer, she created a YouTube channel and blog called The Accounting Struggle® to help new and struggling accountants get acclimated to the accounting industry. She has amassed a loyal following in just a few short years and has no plans to slow down.
